The Texa-Bama Fishing Tourney – the cost will be approximately $100 per person. We will arrange the charter boats for the half-day trip once all rsvp cards are in. Those participating will be alerted via e-mail concerning the cost per person. We will provide more detail as we get closer to the event. The boat fleet in Ocotal is first rate because of the great fishing and sport diving in the area. Typically the boats and their captains are from America and know what they are doing on the Pacific. The species are varied depending on the season. This area of the coast offers, sailfish, marlin, dorado, tuna, and wahoo, just to name a few. The great feature in fishing Costa Rica is deep water is very close to shore. I have caught sailfish 1 mile from the beach!!! This means more time fishing and having fun. The boats will be stocked with cold beverages and plenty of beer. You should be prepared for plenty of sun so be sure to bring sun-block, a hat, long sleeved shirt and sunglasses. If you get a bit ‘queazy’ bring motion sickness medicine from the states.

As a man who loves the ocean and in some ways makes his living from the ocean, I will ask all of you a huge favor. I would love it if we would all commit to a majority of catch and release. It is technically not our call as the captain ‘owns’ the catch and does sell the fish to the market. We will keep a few for our dinner that evening but let us all commit to giving back to the ocean more then we take from it and finally giving her all the respect she deserves…Thank You, Lance
